Best Use of Stone Veneer - Because We All Need a Break from OPRA Lawsuits
Our First in a Monthly Series on Shauna and Laura's Favorite Homes in NJ's 21st District
-Shauna Williams
We spend alot of our time writing about serious and, at times, uncomfortable topics. The majority of our work has been to bring awareness to issues not covered elsewhere. We don't typically publish happy, feel-good articles.
Why bring this up?
I was unsuccessful in getting a pay raise or a bonus this year.
That's a joke.
None of us are getting paid unless you count the thrilling satisfaction of poring over budgets and contracts for hours.
As a result, I have successfully pressured our fearless leader into starting a monthly article about our favorite houses in the area.
He's not happy: the discussion went something along the lines of, "We're not &*#$ Better Homes and Gardens".
I do hope that a few of you find this interesting or fun.
Here is my first submission.
This home wins for 'Best Use of Stone Veneer'. The style and application are closer to real stone homes in the area than most designs, which are typically just accents on the facade.
The color blends beautifully with the rest of the home's exterior, which includes metal roofing over the entrance and garage.
The circular vent at the top of the stone wall, and the mullioned windows, help give an authentic feel to the design.
That's not the only thing that makes this a favorite, though. The lines of the home are balanced and proportionate. The landscaping is nice, with good use of accent lighting at night (although the trees at the edge of the property block the view of traffic, so minus one five-hundredth of a point).
When this home was renovated, the trend was gray siding with multiple dormers and gables, and while some facets of the home mirror this, it definitely has its own style.
If this is your house, and you are so inclined, please feel free to send us information about the architect/construction company and we'll add it.
If you have a home that you feel should be featured please send me a note at team@nj21st.com
